JULY 2010

Winter is upon us and we have had some freezing temperatures and snow capped mountains in the past few weeks. Despite the cold, the Robertson area has magnificent winter days where sunshine is almost always on offer, whilst colder evenings are filled with crackling fires and a glass of Rusticus red! If you feel like enjoying some time away in the country, look no further!

Look out for two upcoming wine festivals in our neck of the woods - The SLOW festival takes place 6-9 August and the Robertson Wine on the River Festival takes place 15-17 October 2010!

Warm wine regards,
Stephan & Lindi Busch

Food and Wine go hand in hand with the World Cup ...

In collaboration with the Dutch based company Great Grapes, Rusticus recently hosted several high profile international visitors to their small boutique winery. An evening of dinner and wines were served to 13 guests, three of which were very well known chefs, with no less than six Michelin stars between them.

Winemaker Stephan Busch and assistant chef Mauro Fioravanti prepared a gourmet three course dinner with the local venison and homemade gnocchi being a highlight. All of the visitors were here courtesy of Great Grapes ‘South of Africa 2010’ tour, showcasing the best of South African wines and hospitality with a generous helping of soccer fever thrown in as well.

Our Rusticus wines were very well received, notably the Viognier which continues to be a firm favourite for visitors to this small producer. Stephan Busch has been making Viognier since 2006, and each vintage has received four stars from South African wine guide, John Platter.
